The broken CPU socket fan holder lug finally caught up with my old motherboard this summer.
I just replaced it with a cheap one.

Thanks, it does the job ;-}
I don't run a case, haven't for years, it sits back in the corner of my HUGE desk like this:

I have a pair of big CRT monitors using "Spread desktop", and to the left of the left monitor I have the Kenwood digital amp.

I'm running the Digital Coax from the motherboard to the Kenwood amp, and then have a giant pair of home 3 way floor speakers with a pair of 10" woofers, a midrange, and tweeter in each, but I have them placed just above ear level tilted down when sitting at my desk at each side of the room and balanced perfect for my office chair ;-}

I seen your Quad, nice box.
I listen to music all the time I am in my office. The digital sound all the way to the amp and 'real' speakers is what I really like.
Funny thing about this Kenwood VR-505 Amp... It was the center of my home 5.1 entertainment system but kept overheating so I bought a new one that plays nice in the cabinet.
Given some breathing space and just two speakers it works fine on my desk but I recommend you don't buy one for a home entertainment, it's like a large place heater.

Not counting the sound system, Nothing. I make money when I upgrade as this topic explains http://vales.com/elite/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=292 ;-} I even got the big dual monitors for free.
If you are wondering what it would cost to build my stuff in a box today, less than $700 all new I'd guess.

| I just realized that my E8400 machine has the same PSu as yours. I'm surprised it can handle the hardware I have running on it. |

Well, my 21" Optiquest main monitor is starting to dim. It's fine for everything except pictures, they are just too dark now so I have moved my browser and paint programs to use on the 17" Dell and just using the big one for everything else like mail, clock, desktop icons, etc.
I have to hand it to the Optiquest though, it is like 10 years old and still works, it's just starting to dim a bit. Not bad for free 6 years ago ;-}

Not now, and no hardware change. I quadrupled my PC Wiz 2009 score from around 5,230 to 21,926 in 10 minutes with the keyboard and mouse.
Read about it in my new Free Faster PC part II Topic.
I'm going follow the earlier tutorial now too, and then try 3dMark. And yes, I do see a marked speed increase in EVERYING I do now.

That takes money, and both KC and I are not making any at this time. I was lucky myself to find my like-new 21" sony, no doubt tossed out by someone who bought a new flat screen LCD...
otherwise I'd still be on a 17". People don't want them anyymore, so I have 3 in that garage right now. It doesn't seem all that long ago that a 17" CRT would have set me back $200. How times change so quickly...

I have no problem with my CRT's, they do the job and keep on going ;-} I'm going to run my benchmarks again now that ran part 1 of the system speedup tutorial too.

I am back up on my main machine. My sysinfo at top is updated. Got a $49.95 MSI mobo replacement for old old MSI. Not near as fancy, but the only thing I miss is the Coax S/PDIF digital connector, have to run regular old analog audio to my amp now.
No biggie, I am back on my system again. On the bright side, I did put a whole bunch more on my backup system. I have it running in the other room networked now so I can get all the work I did the last couple of weeks off it ;-}

Bummer, I toasted my Kenwood Amp. It sounds like a cheap pocket AM radio now. I don't know how long I will be able to endure it before I have to do something.

KC I might have something nice for you Email me for the details. It's nothing big and fancy but I have it and it works GREAT! |
If it's broke FIX it. If it's not broke, OVERCLOCK it. If OVERCLOCKING breaks it, get ready to buy a new one |

| Hey KC, does this MB support newer AM3 CPU's since they are back-compatible with AM2+? Just a bit curious |

No. It it is a bottom basement priced bare bones AM2+ board. All it did was make was me functional again. You won't be able to be AM3 compatible with an AM2 CPU for cheap. |

Oh. Was just curious My other 630 chip is what I am thinking is dead. Was wanting someone to test it on their system with different parts and SB's to see if it would boot with them. Oh well... |

It actually died months ago in the fire but I am just getting around to posting. I'm on a POS backup.
